The CES 2024 event this year certainly lived up to expectations. In January, the Indesign, LLC team traveled to CES in Las Vegas for the 25th time. For me, who was entering the show for the very first time, it was like stepping into a sci-fi movie. This year’s show featured 2.5+ million net square feet of exhibits, more than 4,300 exhibitors, 1,400+ startups, and over 135,000 attendees. The Indesign team this year included myself, Principal Software Engineer Austin Kirchhoff, and Director of Business Development Luke Johnston.
Highlights of CES
We came to the show with a goal to connect with partners, discover the newest tech, and explore some of the sights and sounds of Las Vegas. Some of the things that stood out for me were:
- Samsung City, one of the largest booths at CES, was a massive exhibit divided into several neighborhoods that highlighted new AI tech for mobile devices, smart home products, screens, gaming, pet care, and more.
- Watching a professional drone soccer match in which 2 teams of 5 players each fly drones up to 100 mph and try to score their drone through a hoop. An engineer invented the game which was inspired by the game of Quidditch from Harry Potter.
- 3D Holographic Displays that produce high-quality 3D graphics that look like they are suspended in the air that can display real or virtual objects like an engine assembly or a human heart and even live stream actual people.
- When we were not walking the show, we devoted a lot of our time to engaging with current and potential partners. And in the evenings, we enjoyed entertaining clients at some of the best restaurants in Las Vegas.
- Finally, at the Mirage hotel where we stayed, did you know there is a volcano? Well, there is – and it erupts every night at 8, 9, 10, and 11 pm, which was an interesting surprise on the first night when trying to get to sleep.
It was an exciting and memorable time at CES 2024. We learned a lot and encountered some amazing new people and new technology. I enjoyed attending, and I’m looking forward to the next CES show in 2025.
