One in-house capability that sets Indesign apart is our ability to assemble printed circuit boards. We have found that as our electrical engineers design circuits and schematics and our ECAD team lays out the printed circuit board, it is incredibly valuable for the engineers to be able to walk down the hallway and talk to our assembly team. The extensive knowledge that they have regarding assembly allows our teams to design in a way that is more efficient to manufacture and provides a better product for our clients.
Our assembly team can assemble both by machine and by hand depending on the requirements of each project. They work closely with the rest of a project team to determine what is needed for each board and how to deliver the highest quality product on time and on budget.
Our investment in machine assembly equipment allows Indesign to have more control of the design schedule to better meet commitments to our customers. We can have bare boards fabricated and delivered as quickly as three days. We work with our clients to get the parts needed to assemble their boards; they can send us all their parts, some of their parts, or Indesign can do all the procurement work. The assembly team works to have all of the components for a board ready for PCB assembly as soon as the bare boards are delivered – allowing for the fastest possible turn-around time. This allows our engineers to quickly test the prototypes once they are assembled, and make adjustments before moving on to the next phases of development.
PCB assembly capabilities include Surface Mount Technology (SMT), Thru-hole, and mixed technology (SMT with Thru-hole) for single and double-sided placement. This equipment allows for the placement and soldering of components in packages as small as 0201s and BGAs/QFNs with a 0.4 mm lead pitch. To help insure quality soldering, Indesign uses a thermal profiler which allows for more precise temperature zone control within the reflow oven.
Indesign can also assemble lead-free and leaded PCBA’s, depending on the needs of our clients. Our highly experienced assembly staff are IPC-610 certified. Questions regarding our services? Contact us by calling (877) 561-0274.
