CES 2018: Indesign was there with lots of tech

Indesign exhibited at CES 2018 for the 21st year in a row this January.  The Indesign booth was located in the Sands Expo Center in the Health and Wellness section of the show.  In addition to having a booth in the Sands, we were also in most of the venues of the show visiting with clients, suppliers, and 3rd party partners.  The Indesign team spent the week in Las Vegas meeting with potential new clients as well as witnessing some new and exciting technology. Sensors are all around us and were found in all areas of the show.  The Internet of Things (IoT) was present in each of the areas/marketplaces.  For example, L’Oreal was showing a small body-worn sensor that can detect ultraviolet exposure.  Next to us in the Smart Home area, companies like ADT, Kwikset, and Comcast were showing simulated homes loaded with sensors that interact with people on a daily basis.  Outside of the main marketplaces in the Sands, Amazon Alexa had a dedicated space showing off where and how Alexa and voice control can play a part in our everyday lives.  But it didn’t stop there, we saw the presence of Alexa and AWS throughout the show including in-vehicle and many other personal electronic gadgets. In addition to what we expect to see in the next couple years, there were also some technologies demonstrated that are up and coming in the next 5 to 10 years.  One example of that was an LG 65” rollable OLED TV – the amazing thing is it didn’t look like it would be rollable.  That (along with drones that will transport people, self-driving vehicle demos and scrabble playing robots) make it an exciting show to visit and reassuring that the world of tech is alive and well.
