About Us

Built on Experience. Focused on Execution.

Indesign is an electronics engineering design firm founded in 1997. Today, our team consists of over 70 employees all under one roof in Indianapolis. Indesign has worked with over 400 clients, from startups to Fortune 100 companies, across diverse industries such as industrial, consumer, government, and medical sectors. We offer full-turnkey product development services, from concept to production.

Growing Into Engineering Excellence

Experience From the Start

From day one, Indesign opened its doors with 37 experienced engineers that had already been working together for years. Today, that team is more than 70 people strong, shaped by decades of real‑world engineering challenges. Each project adds new depth, discipline, and perspective.

Refined Through Practice

Over time, we’ve sharpened how we design, review, and validate our work. Lessons learned become standard and repeatable processes that the team uses to continuously improve our ISO-9001:2015 Product Development Quality Management System.

Strengthened by Collaboration

As the team has grown, so have our capabilities. With multiple engineering disciplines under one roof and resources like an in‑house prototype assembly lab, Indesign has differentiated itself as a premier electronics design partner. Recruiting from top Midwest engineering universities, we’ve created a strong mentorship culture where experience is passed down and institutional knowledge deepens with each generation.

Proven by Results

Our reputation for excellence comes from consistent delivery and long‑term client trust. We’ve completed over 2,000 projects for 400+ clients, with 80% returning with new projects. Whether you’re manufacturing hundreds or hundreds of thousands, our proven product development process delivers robust manufacturing-ready designs backed by industry standards, quality certifications, and a team built to scale with you.

The Indesign Origin Story

Thirty years ago, a group of engineers at AT&T Bell Labs’ consumer products division found themselves at a defining moment. Their roles were being relocated to AT&T headquarters in New Jersey, requiring significant personal and professional change. Rather than uproot their lives, 37 of those engineers chose to remain in Indianapolis and form an independent engineering design services company—one grounded in the discipline, creativity, and rigor they had developed at Bell Labs.
